8 Days 7 Nights
Douala → Kribi → Douala

Coast and Culture
Cameroon is called Africa in miniature, and its Atlantic coast is where that promise is easiest to keep. Eight days beginning in Douala, the country’s economic capital, with the Maritime Museum of Bonanjo, the Bell Kings’ Palace known as La Pagode, the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral and the contemporary art centre Doual’art with its urban art trail. The road south then runs through Edéa to Lake Ossa, in the Douala-Edéa wildlife reserve, where a dugout canoe takes you out among the mangroves in search of the West African manatee. Three nights follow in Kribi: the Lobé Falls, sacred to the Batanga people and one of the very few waterfalls in the world to pour directly into the Atlantic, reached by motorised canoe; a 45-minute journey upriver to meet the Bagyeli, among the oldest peoples of the equatorial forest; the fishing village of Grand Batanga; and the sea turtle nesting site at Ebodjé. You return to Douala for the Wouri bridge at golden hour, Sandaga market and the craft village.
Your Africa Tour Travel representative greets you at Douala International Airport, assists with arrival formalities and accompanies you on a private, air-conditioned transfer to your hotel in Bonanjo, barely four kilometres away. After check-in we hold a friendly welcome meeting: a full day-by-day walkthrough of your programme, how each excursion works, local etiquette and the rules on photography in Cameroon. We set up your local SIM card with data and add you to our WhatsApp group. Welcome dinner of grilled fish and ndole.
WELCOME DINNER

A full day in Bonanjo, the colonial heart of Douala: the Maritime Museum with its navigation simulator, the Bell Kings' Palace known as La Pagode, the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, then the contemporary art centre Doual'art and its urban art trail. The day ends at the flower market of Bonapriso for crafts, carving and basketwork.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH

An early departure on the N3 to Edea, about an hour and a quarter, then a dugout canoe trip on Lake Ossa inside the Douala-Edea wildlife reserve, in search of the West African manatee among the mangroves. The road continues south to Kribi, another hour and three quarters, for check-in on the seafront and sunset over the Atlantic.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH | DINNER

The Lobe Falls, eight kilometres south of Kribi: one of the very few waterfalls on earth to pour straight into the ocean, and a sacred site of the Batanga people. You approach by motorised canoe and can swim in the natural pools. Then 45 minutes upriver to the Bagyeli camp, among the oldest peoples of the equatorial forest: forest pharmacopoeia, songs and dances. We bring a courtesy gift of rice, salt, soap and sugar for the camp, as local custom requires.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH | DINNER

Grand Batanga, a fishing village south of Kribi: the seine nets coming in, and a grilled fish lunch facing the ocean. In the afternoon, the community ecotourism village of Ebodje, 45 kilometres down the coast, a nesting site for marine turtles, then free time for water sports back in Kribi.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH | DINNER

A free morning at Kribi market for Penja pepper and Boyo coffee, then the road back to Douala, about three hours. Late in the day, the panorama from the Wouri bridge and a golden-hour photo session on the Bonanjo waterfront.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH

Sandaga, the largest market in Douala, explored with both guides: fabrics, wax prints and spices. Then the craft village of Bonanjo for Foumban bronzes and masks from the western highlands, all certified. Closing dinner and presentation of your photo report.
BREAKFAST | DINNER

A final Cameroonian breakfast, then a private transfer to Douala International Airport — we arrive three hours ahead, as local formalities take time — with photos and a personal album to treasure.
