History and Landscapes
Eight days across the two cities that define South Africa. Johannesburg opens the journey with the Apartheid Museum, Vilakazi Street in Soweto — the only street in the world to have housed two Nobel Peace laureates — the Hector Pieterson Memorial and the Constitution Hill human rights precinct. A two-hour flight then carries you to Cape Town for three full nights: the rotating cable car to the summit of Table Mountain, the colour-washed streets of the Bo-Kaap, and the ferry to Robben Island, where the prison is toured with a former political prisoner. A full day on the Cape Peninsula takes in Chapman’s Peak Drive, the Cape of Good Hope, the Flying Dutchman funicular and the African penguin colony at Boulders Beach. You return to Johannesburg for a guided lion safari before flying home. One internal flight, two hotels, and not a single wasted transfer.
Your Africa Tour Travel representative greets you at O. R. Tambo International Airport, assists with arrival formalities and accompanies you on a private, air-conditioned transfer to your hotel in Sandton or Rosebank (about 35 km). After check-in we hold a friendly welcome meeting: a full day-by-day walkthrough of your programme, how each excursion works (pick-up times, dress, what to bring), plus safety guidance and local etiquette for South Africa. We set up your local SIM card with data and add you to our WhatsApp group for real-time support.
WELCOME DINNER

A full day with the history that shaped modern South Africa. We begin at the Apartheid Museum, where your ticket randomly assigns you a racial classification at the door (allow two and a half hours; closed on Mondays). We continue to Soweto and 8115 Vilakazi Street, Nelson Mandela's family home and the only street in the world to have housed two Nobel Peace Prize laureates, then to the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum. Lunch on Vilakazi Street.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH

Morning guided Full Tour of the Constitution Hill human rights precinct in Braamfontein: the Old Fort, the Women's Jail and the Constitutional Court, built from the bricks of the prison it replaced. Transfer to O. R. Tambo and a 2h10 flight to Cape Town. Check-in at the V&A Waterfront and dinner on the harbour.
BREAKFAST | DINNER

Up early for the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway from Tafelberg Road — the rotating car turns a full 360 degrees on the way up, so every passenger gets every view. Two to three hours on the summit plateau. Afternoon in the Bo-Kaap, the Cape Malay quarter with its cobbled streets and hand-painted houses, then the V&A Waterfront and the Two Oceans Aquarium.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH

The ferry leaves the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront for Robben Island: three and a half hours including the island bus tour and the prison itself, guided by a former political prisoner, ending at cell number five. Afternoon at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, and the Boomslang canopy walkway.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH

A full day by private minibus down the peninsula: Chapman's Peak Drive and Hout Bay, then the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, where you ride the Flying Dutchman funicular up to the old lighthouse and look out over the meeting of two oceans. On the way back, the African penguin colony at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town, watched from raised boardwalks a few metres away.
BREAKFAST | LUNCH

Morning flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg, then a two-hour guided safari at the Lion and Safari Park near Broederstroom: lions, cheetahs, giraffes and wild dogs, in a malaria-free zone. Evening free for shopping at Sandton City, followed by a farewell dinner and a screening of your photo report.
BREAKFAST | DINNER

A final South African breakfast, then a private transfer to O. R. Tambo International Airport — we arrive three hours before an international departure — with photos and a personal album to treasure.
